Measurement uncertainty as a part of result interpretation

Conclusions cannot be drawn if the measurement uncertainty related to the measuring result is not known. When a laboratory or inspection body takes a stand on conformity by comparing the result/results it has received to a specific limit value, consideration should be given to the models presented in the guidebook ILAC G8 on how measurement uncertainty should be taken into account. However, provisions must be made for statutory requirements or instructions from authorities on the interpretation of results.
